Atlanta

Here’s our picks for the best in Atlanta from some Cajun Foodie’s in exile!

  • Atlanta Fish Market-This seafood is so fresh that you can pick out your dinner while it’s still alive. Want to give it a name too? Too far? -Nick

  • Big Easy Grill-Atlanta doesn’t have a lot of “dive” bars. Mostly it’s full of trendy, one-word named (see, Tap, Opera, Toast, etc.) “clubs.” That’s why the Big Easy Grill stands out here. Located in a strip mall on the outskirts of town and run by a Cajun in exile, the Big Easy Grill is a safe haven for those in search of authentic jambalaya, gumbo, Abita Beer, and $3 Jaegermeister shots at all times!- Nick

  • Boudreaux’s- Located in a suburb of Atlanta, Boudreaux’s is a little more than off the beaten path. So, why does this plain as day market sell out of crawfish within hours of announcing they have them? It’s because they’re the real deal. During crawfish season, they make a weekly trip to Lafayette to get fresh, live mudbugs. They even sell them live if you want to do your own boil.- Nick

  • Front Page News- New Orleans inspired restaurant and bar. It’s a great place to have a Purple Haze on their French Quarter-esque courtyard/patio.- Nick

  • Parish- Parish is the exactly what you’d expect from a Louisiana themed restaurant in Atlanta. It’s Cajun food in a chic atmosphere, but Parish gets street cred for making a killer Abita Root Beer Float. Did I mention that the Abita Root Beer is straight from the tap?-Nick

  • Six Feet Under- Go to Six Feet Under for their amazing view of Atlanta’s skyline. Seafood is their main game here, and almost everything on the menu is fried! Can’t go wrong with that! -Nick

  • Trois- Trois’ atmosphere might remind one of the milk bar in A Clockwork Orange. Everything is trendy, white, and has a sterile feel. It’s interesting, but not as much as the food. The chef here puts a modern twist on classic French cuisine, and their award-winning mixologist, Eric Simpkins, uses his skill to create unique and tasty cocktails to accompany your meal. In short, Trois is a truly unforgettable experience. -Nick

  • Two Urban Licks- Big, cavernous, and noisy, Two Urban Licks is a great place to hang out, have a nice meal, and see great live music all in the same place. -Nick

  • The Varsity- The Varsity is… well, it is what it is. It’s one of America’s first fast food restaurants, and it’s still very much the same as when it first opened. Good for a fun trip or a milkshake, but not necessarily the best meal. -Nick

  • The Vortex- The Vortex is known for several things: tattoos, indoor smoking, beer… but mostly, bugers are the reason to go the Vortex. Topping their list of amazing burgers is the legendary Double Bypass. Are you ready for a burger made three fried eggs, four slices of American cheese, and five slices of bacon, with two grilled cheese sandwiches replacing the buns? I don’t think you are. -Nick
