Okay, I’m getting really excited about this upcoming boudin cookoff that will be held October 17 in Lafayette. Approximately 20 teams/boudin shops have entered and yours truly will be one of the judges getting the pleasure of downing this delicacy in the name of finding the best of the best.
Until then, I’m interested in seeing what y’all think is the best boudin out there, so vote away!
Usual rules apply, if you don’t see your top choice, comment on the post and I will add them in!

You put Tiny Prudhomme’s on the board for the polling? They aren’t even the best in Broussard. Look, I am not just saying this…I grew up there, went to Katherine Drexel and Broussard Middle. Everyone knows that Billeaud’s is the best Boudain in Broussard. Come on Cajun Foodie, ya gotta get out there mon amis. Check it out and you will see. Until you put Billeauds on there…I cannot vote.

Nelson Rd. is the only one I’ve hit, primarily for the smoked boudin. Good question for the residents of Lake Chuck though; which Market Basket in Lake Charles has the best boudin?

Josh, totally forgot about Billeaud’s. Threw in the vote for them on your behalf too.
We’ll have to start a whole new poll on graton…

Johnson’s is representing @ the cook-off. All of our smoked meats and boudin recipes are based on the world famous Johnson’s Grocery, which was located in Eunice, La since 1937 (which is no longer open). We’re in Lafayette now. Come by Saturday. Lori’s (the owner) father Wallce Johnson (one of the owners of Johnson’s Grocery) will be there.
Best,
Greg

Hands down, no contest, Don’s Specialty Meats. Big chunks of meat, spicy, greasy as all hell, and my most important quality, consistent.

I don’t see Ray’s Boudin on 182 south of town on left. That is the original Ray’s. The Ray’s made by Billy’s is wrong.

Can’t wait to get back to Louisiana for some great food! The Aussie reckon Bergeron’s is the best, and has put it on the “must do” list for our upcoming trip home.

In the interest of fair polling, the 2-time defending People’s Choice champ from the Boudin Cook-Off, NuNu’s of Youngsville/Milton, should be on the list. Having said that, Don’s is my favorite.

Mrcoonass, Jacob’s in Laplace sells online. http://www.cajunsausage.com/ Their andouille is second to none and their smoked sausage, while I have never had it, probably ain’t half bad either.
Best Stop in Cankton also ships http://www.thebeststopsupermarket.com/welcome.htm just about everything, including some top notch boudin and smoked sausage…and ponce/chaudin!

I am so not believing that Billy’s Mini Mart in Krotz Springs didn’t make the list! Seriously, the best boudin and boudin balls I have ever put into my mouth. You’ve GOT to put them on the list!

It’s not on the list, but if you want some really good boudin, stop in at Charlie T’s in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. In voting what’s on the list, I would have to go with Don’s in Carencro (or in Scott for that matter, same people). It’s making my mouth water just thinking about it. Both are very close for the best cracklins as well!

Someone needs to try Peto’s in Moss Bluff and Homsi’s in Lake Charles — they definitely should be included in next years contest.
