Alright, we’re looking for the best fried shrimp po boy in the state of Louisiana. Whether you like your french bread pillowy soft or a little crunchy on the outside, nearly every seafood joint has their version and we’re looking for the best of the best. To narrow it down a bit, we’re sticking to the standard po boy (a.k.a. no open faced shrimp sandwiches , shrimp paninis, BBQ shrimp po boys, etc no matter how good they are) for this poll.
The Rules: Check out the choices below and pick up to three of your top choices. If you don’t think any of them are in the top leave a suggestion as a comment and we’ll tack it on to the poll the next chance we get.

i like crabby jacks on jefferson hwy. good romaine lettuce (all w/ all else that “dressed” refers to) and sauces on a mound of perfect shrimp, within a good size leidenheimer french loaf.

Pretty much anything on the menu is a winner…I suggest shrimp OR roast beef po boy. Bread is toasted which, to me, makes the difference!

Boy, somebody spread the word around Thibodaux about this poll… Blake’s is opening up the lead here.
Might have to try another one next time I’m down there!

I’m not sure it can get much better than Old Tyme Grocery in Lafayette. The shrimp are fried to perfection, the bread is the perfect combination of toasty and soft, and they have the goop that comes out of the sandwich when you bite it (you know, that perfect combination of ketchup and mayo) down to an artform. The best thing to do is go with a friend and you purchase the shrimp po-boy and have your friend purchase the Olde Tyme Special. Pretend you are in 2nd grade and swap halves for the best of all worlds!

The only place that beats an Old Tyme poboy is Villager’s Cafe in Maurice! Hands down the best!

The French Loaf in Houma, Louisiana. GREAT! Check it out.

Way late for this poll – but my picks are
1. Houma – Griffin’s (their bread makes the difference!)
2. Baton Rouge – Brewbacher’s (should also try their grilled shrimp poboy)
3. Houma/Bayou Blue – Bayou Blue Poboy (their roast beef are even better)
4. Around LA – New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood – they load down the shrimp!

Robin,
I’ve never heard of either Griffin’s or Bayou Blue! Which one is the better of the two in you view? I think I’m going to have to make a stop the next time I am driving through Houma…

Don’t forget Bozo’s in Metairie! I’d also nominate them for best fried oysters, too.

Ted, I added Bozo’s and threw in a vote for them as your proxy. They’re a little late to the game, but you never know, they may catch up!

Well, Blake’s is no longer #1 for the fried shrimp in this poll, but I had a roast beef po boy from there the other day and my goodness was it tasty!
