It’s time to crank up another “best of” poll and as I sit here and write this, all I have on my mind is a big, juicy cheeseburger.

It’s one of those moments where you are daydreaming like Wimpy from Popeye with thoughts of greasy beef patties covered with a mound of grated cheddar and smushed between two hot out of the oven fresh buns only to wake up and find drool on your keyboard…

No? You don’t have those moments? Ah well, more burgers for me then.

To those of you who do daydream in smell o’ vision though, who has the best burger and/or cheeseburger in Louisiana?

You want a real cheeseburger… get yourself to Parrot’s on False River!

burger1 150x150 You want a real cheeseburger... get yourself to Parrots on False River!Parrot’s on False River is a Parrothead’s dream.  Dark neighborhood bar with great tunes routinely interspersed with Jimmy Buffett songs, Hawaiian shirts, knick knacks pegged everywhere, friendly people, overlooking the water, great burgers, fresh cut fries and chips… I could go on and on.

Bought seven years ago by the one of the nicest couples you’ll ever meet, Parrot’s in Jarreau is a short distance from Baton Rouge on the southeast side of False River.  You can drive there of course, but the best way is to pull up in a boat and tie off at their dock.

The place is one of the best around for drinks amongst old friends, new friends, and people that you’ve never met before but are soon to be counted as friends.  While I had been there before, I had never had the chance to eat here.  On a recent trip though, the Wife and I accompanied a friend out to False River and I was determined to eat one of these famous burgers.
