Kleinpeter Farms, a Baton Rouge based dairy, expanded into the world of ice cream last year with their vanilla, strawberry and chocolate offerings. Ever since I first had a bite of the strawberry ice cream, I’ve been following the news on this little company and had heard rumblings about some exciting new flavors coming out. I’m happy to say that they are now here!
Kleinpeter is putting the following flavors on the shelves near you:
- Sweet Potato with bitsĀ of pie crust and Bruce’s yams from New Iberia (available now)
- Cafe au Lait containing none other than Community Coffee (available now)
- Elmer’s Gold Brick with pieces of the famous chocolate and pecan candy from
HammondPonchatoula, Louisiana (next week) - Bananas Foster Praline with Aunt Sally’s super creamy pralines from New Orleans (sometime in the next month)
- Rocky Road (sometime in the next month)
- Banana Pudding (sometime in the next month)
If you beat me to one of these, let me know how it goes and thanks to Louie Layrisson for asserting some Ponchatoula pride in claiming Elmer’s!

This is the best icecream around. Albertson’s ran the pints on sale and i tried Rocky Road, Gold brick, Bananas foster, pralines and cream, triple chocolate stampede and they were all great. Oh and the best one of all was blueberry cheesecake. This one is to die for. Thanks for all the great flavors and i can’t wait to try the newest flavors.

Why is Bananas Foster…hands down the best ice cream in the world… only available at Dornagic’s in pints only??? There is no telling what I might do for a gallon!
Please advise delivery date to store…as usual, Dornagic’s not willing to share too much info!
Congratulatiions for using so many ‘homegrown’ products!
