Dude!: What kind of cheese was on this pizza?? I'm thinking I want to try out making this pie myself!

All bacon lovers: I did find a recipe for tempura fried bacon that I plan to try out for a get together on Aug 15 - I will let you know how it turns out!

My wife and I put two other foods in bacon's "makes everything better" category: avocado and cilantro. There's a pizza place in Miami, FL called Archie's - I was turned on to this spot by a local while working there - it's one of those "everybody eats there" kind of places. Well, all the pizzas are good, as are the beers, but one night we hit on the Bacon Avocado Cilantro pizza - could it work? Could these three undercards come together for the main event. You bet they can. Needless to say, this became our "go to" pie for many subsequent visits.

Love the blog, keep up the good work!

Ell, I agree. I love The Best Thing I Ever Ate. You know you are hearing about the best of the best when you are listening to such established chefs go on and on about..(gasp!) OTHER people's food!
I know this has been written about before on this site, but I think it deserves a third or fourth mention...if you haven't made the trip to Elizabeth's in the Bywater of New Orleans for the praline bacon, you are missing out on one of the most incredible salty, sweet, crispy concoctions in the state!

So many things are going through my mind while thinking of bacon and counting down the minutes until lunch; however, I'll say this:
- The Best Thing I Ever Ate is...The Best Show I Ever Watched! Love it! There was a chef featured last week who offered in his restaurant TEMPURA FRIED BACON!! Um...yum! As soon as I figure out just how to do this, I'll post something!
- I'm fairly certain there aren't many of us out there who could come up with a list of foods that aren't better with bacon! To me, to think that a dish "shouldn't have bacon" or "has too much bacon", it's the same as saying something "has too much chocolate", or "too much cheese". Some things in life just don't exist!

A strip of duck breast, a peice of green onion top, a slice of portabella mushroom all wrapped in a strip of bacon, marinated in beer, worchestershire, garlic, etc... then grilled. mmmmm...

Hard to beat a deep fried bacon wrapped shrimp though!

Lemon icebox pie doesn't get better with bacon, but the non-bacon-benefitting list is pretty short.

This is a really tough one. The more I thought about it, the more I couldn't decide, so I'm going with the first thing that came to my mind. Marinated venison backstrap medallions stuffed with cream cheese and jalapeno, wrapped in bacon and grilled over charcoal. WOW!! I'm hungry.
